National Recovery Month: Kentucky Access to Recovery

As National Recovery Month comes to a close, Fahe would like to highlight Kentucky Access to Recovery (KATR) and acknowledge the positive impact the program has on the communities we serve.

The KATR program is designed to provide specific support services to clients who have been diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder, Stimulant Use Disorder, or have a history of overdose from opioid use. KATR does not pay for treatment itself, but instead provides funding for the resources needed by clients to be successful in recovery. Some of those resources include rent payment for sober living housing, transportation, employment support, and basic needs.

When KATR began offering services to eligible clients in 2019, the program served 15 counties in Kentucky. That footprint has greatly expanded to a total of 34 counties.

During fiscal year 2023 (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023) KATR served a total of 1,255 new clients with a total of $1,037,135 direct client service dollars.

KATR and substance use recovery programs are an essential part of how Fahe seeks to build hope, strengthen communities, and nurture thriving Appalachian communities through housing and support systems.
