Fahe-Featured “Us & Them” Episode Receives Best Podcast Honor
Fahe is proud to share that an encore episode of Us & Them featuring Fahe’s work has been recognized by the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters with the award for Best Podcast.
Originally released on February 12, 2025, the episode featured Virginia resident Joyce Vest, who shared how, with the help of a friend and Fahe Member SERCAP, she was able to overcome barriers and remain in the place she calls home. Her story offered a powerful example of the housing challenges many people in Appalachia face and the importance of trusted, community-based support.
The episode also explored a broader and often overlooked side of the housing crisis. While West Virginia has one of the highest homeownership rates in the nation, many residents live in older homes in poor condition, revealing that homeownership alone does not guarantee safe, stable housing.
This recent honor shines added light on a story that matters deeply to our region and to Fahe’s mission. We are grateful to Us & Them for helping elevate the realities of housing need in Appalachia and for highlighting the role of organizations like SERCAP in helping people remain safely housed.
Congratulations to the Us & Them team on this well-deserved recognition.
