Gov. Beshear Encourages Eastern Kentucky Flood Survivors To Apply for Housing Support
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced the launch of an online form for Eastern Kentucky flood survivors to apply for housing support. The form, available at housingcantwait.org, allows applicants to share their basic information and receive personalized assistance from Fahe Disaster Resilience Team members to determine available housing options. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to provide support through federal disaster recovery grants and local nonprofit builders. The program has already completed 393 homes and aims to develop additional high-ground communities across the region.
During the announcement, Beshear highlighted the progress made at sites like the Skyview community in Perry County, where nearly 100 new homes are planned. The Governor emphasized the importance of applying for housing support to help families displaced by the 2021 and 2022 floods. With dedicated funding, including $8.3 million for new housing projects in Breathitt County, the recovery effort continues to offer new opportunities for flood survivors, fostering a brighter future for Eastern Kentucky. Local leaders, including Perry County Judge Scott Alexander and Hazard Mayor Donald Mobelini, expressed gratitude for Beshear’s commitment to rebuilding the community.
The announcement was made in Hazard, Kentucky at the office of Housing Development Alliance. It was supported by a press release.
