Fahe Statement on Preserving the CDFI Fund

Fahe | March 17, 2025

Berea, KY — “Fahe stands firmly in support of the CDFI Fund,” said Fahe CEO Jim King. “Amid a national housing crisis, especially in Appalachia, we cannot afford to weaken this critical resource that enables affordable housing, community facilities, and essential services.”

Since its establishment in 1994, the CDFI Fund has enjoyed bipartisan support for expanding access to capital and economic opportunities in underserved areas.

Fahe applauds U.S. Sens. Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Mark Warner (D-VA) for affirming their bipartisan commitment to support the CDFI Fund’s mission.

As a CDFI serving rural and persistently poor Appalachian counties, the support of the CDFI Funds has enabled Fahe to invest $2.08 billion, generate $1.85 billion in financing, and impacted over 1 million lives since 1980. CDFIs drive economic growth by financing housing, small businesses, and community facilities where traditional finance falls short.

The CDFI Fund fuels a successful public-private partnership. Fahe leverages $40 in private investment for every $1 in public funding. Its preservation is crucial to building homes, creating jobs, supporting small businesses, and revitalizing communities nationwide.
