Fahe Member Partnership Housing Receives Award from Team KY
During September 19th’s Team Kentucky Update, Gov. Beshear awarded $5 Million to Fahe Member Partnership Housing, Inc., to build six duplexes (12 housing units) in the city of Booneville in Owsley Co, KY, a community hit hard by flooding in both 2021 and 2022. This is the first project to be awarded CDBG–Disaster Recovery Multifamily funding in Eastern KY, and will support phase 2 of the project that will provide a total of 34 rental units in 17 duplexes.
Partnership Housing contracted Fahe to write the application for the CDBG-DR funding, and after Thursday’s announcement, Fahe’s Senior VP Pam Johnson shared her appreciation for Fahe’s continued partnership with Team Kentucky to support local communities rebuilding from the floods. Johnson said, “We are excited to have a role in bringing much-needed affordable housing options to EKY for flood survivors and residents who call this beautiful rural community home.”
Partnership Housing’s Exec. Director Cassie Hudson explained that the project is located in one of the most difficult areas to develop rental units, and housing is badly needed. The project has also been given a special name, “The Benton Way” in honor of Melissa Benton, a staff person at the Kentucky Housing Corporation who Cassie met as she was taking the helm of the nonprofit organization several years ago. Cassie shared that Ms. Benton offered unwavering support to her leadership of Partnership Housing from day one, and that this project is a reality today due to Melissa Benton’s legacy and her efforts to help fight for crucial resources needed in their rural community.
