The Fahe Network consists of 50+ Member organizations, spanning across the Appalachian portions of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Alabama, and Maryland. During the best of times, these local leaders provide essential services to their communities including housing, economic, and community development. During times of crisis they stand with their communities, often increasing or modifying the types of services available to match the current need. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, the Fahe Network has served the region for 40 years Building the American Dream. This collaboration has invested over $1.5 Billion into Appalachia, which has directly impacted the lives of over 616,000 people. We are taking the time to celebrate each of these Members during our 40th anniversary, as we continue in partnership to ensure that no community is left behind.

The Kentucky Promise Zone, the first rural Promise Zone in the United States is coordinated and managed by KHIC. The purpose of the Promise Zones is to increase economic activity, improve educational opportunities, and increase job growth in areas of high poverty.

KHIC makes their clients’ dreams a reality and creates opportunities throughout Eastern Kentucky. By investing in community-wide strategic planning initiatives, such as the Kentucky Promise Zone and the USDA Stronger Together (SET) program, KHIC encourages community growth and sustainability. In one of their most recent projects, KHIC created an innovative training series for entrepreneurs and construction trades. The training series is geared towards helping emerging and existing entrepreneurs/housing contractors living in rural counties of Southeastern Kentucky start or expand their business.

KHIC’s innovative approach and dedication to the region has been making the American Dream an actuality in Southeastern Kentucky for over 50 years. Through their initiatives, their impact on Eastern Kentucky has been profound.
