The Hope Center in Lexington, KY held a ribbon cutting on August 22nd to celebrate the opening of its new permanent drug and alcohol-free housing facility on West Loudon Avenue.

The new facility, named Don Ball Campus Center, provides 48 safe, affordable, drug and alcohol-free apartments for men going through recovery.  It provides onsite community rooms, a tenant council, and access to Hope Center resources.  All 48 apartments were filled on the first day.

Fahe is proud of the part we were able to play in realization of the center.  Fahe Strategic Programs wrote the Low Income Housing Tax Credit application that secured $6.7 million raised for the $7.8 million development.

Projects such as the Don Ball Campus Center are crucial for the success of our communities, especially in the midst of the opioid epidemic and the high need for affordable housing in the region.  Recovery programs provide participants with opportunities to change their lives and find self-sufficiency.  We participate in such recovery efforts because of the vital role they play in our mission to eliminate persistent poverty in Appalachia.
