Sometimes we need a reminder of the important things in life. Faith reminds us that as adults, sometimes all it takes to make a difference is a little effort and kindness towards those around us.
Now that you’ve been inspired to implement Faith’s 5 Steps in your own community, here are a few helpful resources to get you started.
Start by researching your community. This can be as easy as a Google search, for example “your town’s name” + “volunteering” or “non-profits.” You can also contact your city hall for a list of options.
Some places that almost always need help include hospitals, nursing homes, soup kitchens, hospices, animal shelters, and schools. Many medical facilities welcome visitors and even pets to help raise the spirits of the patients. Your local Departments of Transportation (DOT) likely has information on Adopt A Highway programs that help to plant trees, flowers, and eliminate litter. Even helping to foster animals can play a large part in the community.
There are also volunteer options with many of the Fahe Members and if we don’t have a member in your area, your local non-profits may be in need of your help. You can visit our member directory to see if one is in your area or if you feel like traveling, many of our members welcome out of town groups.
Remember:
We can all make a huge difference in our communities by following those simple rules. So what are you waiting for? Go make a difference.
