About:  Loudon County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that works to eliminate poverty housing in Loudon County. We welcome individuals from any faith — or from no faith — who are willing to pick up a hammer to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.

Our primary service is accomplished by providing homeownership opportunities through new construction and the rehabbing of existing houses.  Each year we build 5-6 new homes that meet Energy Star and LEED standards. Future homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay an affordable mortgage, and their willingness to partner with Loudon County Habitat for Humanity. Their mortgage payments contribute to a “Fund for Humanity”, which in turn provides money to build more houses. Because our houses are sold at no profit and principally built with volunteer labor, mortgage payments are affordable for low-income families in Loudon County, TN.

Loudon County Habitat for Humanity also provides very low-income families with opportunities for stable housing through our critical home repair program.  Projects often include repairing roofs, building accessibility ramps, replacing windows and HVAC systems, and modifying homes to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with special needs.  We also provide homebuyer education and low-cost merchandise at our Home Store.

Our mission is made possible through strategic partnerships and the generosity of individuals, churches, businesses, and other local organizations.  Several private foundations and public funding entities provide grants that keep the homes affordable.
