2020 marks Fahe’s 40th anniversary of building the American Dream. Over these four decades, Fahe has invested over $1.5 Billion which has directly changed the lives of over 616,000 people.  Our 50+ Members, all local leaders, are directly responsible for our ability to connect communities to investments and opportunity. As we celebrate our anniversary throughout the year, we are taking time to acknowledge and showcase our Members and highlight the important work they are doing which will impact the future of our communities for the next 40 years and beyond.

Community Housing Partners – Christiansburg, VA

Since 1975, Fahe Member Community Housing Partners (CHP) has served their communities by developing and preserving homes that are healthy, affordable, and sustainable. Based in Christiansburg, Virginia, CHP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which delivers a wide variety of services across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Their services include real estate development, construction management, realty and homeownership, asset management, property management, comprehensive resident services, and energy services and training.

In collaboration with their partners, and more than 350 employees, CHP focuses on revitalizing communities through innovation, integrity, and sustainability. What started with two activist in rural Virginia, and was supported purely through volunteers, has become an organization active in six different states which served over 12,000 customers in 2018 alone.

They have also made great advances in their environmental impact. CHP is now well known for their energy efficiency training programs. In 1999, CHP established the Energy Solutions Research and Training Center (formerly NRCERT), which has now reached over 36,000 students across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. The Fahe Network has utilized the Training Center over the years for training of staff in energy efficient building techniques and BPI certification.  Such training increased the capacity of participating Member organizations and introduced new building techniques and practices into the local communities.

CHP is also directly responsible for Fahe’s Berea, KY headquarters. Community Housing Partners designed and built the LEED Certified building back in 2014. The office has provided a better working environment for staff as well as meeting space for Fahe Members and the local community.

In their 45 years of service, CHP has invested over $410 million in communities through real estate development. By focusing on customers, employees, the environment, and financial strength, CHP has been able to foster stability for their residents and promote a healthier planet for generations to come.

We are proud to have Community Housing Partners as a Member of the Fahe Network. Their dedication to serving those in rural communities and underserved communities is inspiring. To learn more about CHP and keep up to date with their projects, follow the links below:
