Fahe considers energy efficient home building techniques to be a vital part of affordable homeownership. Many of our members specialize in building energy efficient homes in order to ensure that homeowners have access to affordable utility bills.
One way that energy efficiency is measured in homes is through the use of the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) index. We are happy to see that the HERS rating has made the news in Kentucky as The Home Builders Association of Lexington announced a push for all of their members to utilize the rating system in their homes.

We hope that as the awareness of home energy efficiency and the HERS rating grows in our communities that there will be a large demand for their inclusion in the appraisals of homes. This will allow more homebuilders to be paid for the work and thus encourage them to produce more homes.
