The 2019 Fahe Annual meeting was a huge success thanks to our Members, partners, and friends who joined us for the experience.  We would like to thank NeighborWorks America for partnering with us on the on the Rural Initiatives Conference. This collaboration provided Fahe Members and rural practitioners from around the country the opportunity to network and share knowledge and expertise that will increase their ability to serve and uplift our communities.

Each year the Fahe Annual Meeting provides not only workshops and training, but also provides a reflection and celebration of the accomplishments of the past year.  In FY2019, the Fahe Network served 80,000 people in Appalachia with a total direct investment of $320 Million.

Special Guests

Every year we invite special guests who speak or present on topics which reinforce and strengthen the knowledge and expertise of the attendees.  This year we were pleased to be joined by:

  • H. Luke Shaefer, Co-Author of $2-A-Day and Director of Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan
  • Lora Smith, Appalachian Impact Fund
  • Stepanie Randolph, Cassiopeia Foundation
  • Christie Cade, NeighborWorks America Southern Region
  • Kiran Singh Sirah, President of the International Storytelling Center

Regional Tours

This year also allowed several of our Members to directly show the impact of their work through three guided tours to Knoxville, rural Tennessee, and rural Kentucky.  During these day-long tours participants learned more about the challenges of the regions and how the Fahe Network leverages resources to create lasting change in the region.

The Fahe Annual Meeting is also the time we acknowledge outstanding Members and partners who go above and beyond in their service and support of Appalachia.  The full list of award recipients can be found here: .

We are thankful for another year to celebrate our accomplishments with Members, partners, and friends.  The Annual Meeting isn’t just a time to learn and reflect, but also a time for us to look ahead and plan for the challenges and rewarding work ahead as we continue to uplift and reinvest in Appalachia.
